A Little post on Reveillon
Wohoooo!!! Here comes the big night! Ice that champagne, this is not a night to be a gourmet and savor it quietly after smoothly opening the bottle. Just shake it and pop somebody’s eye with the stopper! And don’t forget to say hello to those who are away.
For me, this is more of a day to reflect than to wild partying; of course, I’ll save some time for a little alcohol and cheering up, but, mostly, I’ll spend it trying to make sense of the past and, of course, tuning up my expectations for the future. A couple of glasses help me keep a positive approach to those matter though, since I’m naturally a melancholic.
Right now, I’m thinking of all my reveillon’s past… since childhood, when I and my cousin Eduardo (a.k.a dudu among his folks… hear they are calling him Eddie in Chicago nowadays) would steal a bottle of champagne from our adults and go hide on the beach to drink it. We went back two drunken little pests to a house of angry parents waiting. It didn’t really matter… we’d still do that again the next year.
This time, as in others since he was gone to USA, I’m opening a bottle with my parents to let myself acknowledge the passing of time. A bit nostalgic about the things of old, a bit afraid towards the things that lay ahead, but, most of all, a lot of gratitude for the life I’ve had so far.
I wish us all a great new-year! And shall we ever keep close the ones we love… and how could them be closer than in our cherished memories.

I hope you hugged alot of people on this particular night
